Africa Development Council Appoints Ramatu Gumah as Chairperson and Head of Africa Diaspora Relations

The Africa Development Council (ADC) has announced the appointment of Ms. Ramatu Gumah as Chairperson and Head of Africa Diaspora Relations in its Pan Africa Department, a strategic leadership role aimed at strengthening the Council’s engagement with Africans in the diaspora and expanding its global partnerships.

In her new capacity, Ms. Gumah will report directly to the President of the Africa Development Council and will spearhead the department’s efforts to foster stronger relationships with the international diaspora community while advancing the Council’s vision of promoting sustainable development, regional integration, and international cooperation.

As Chairperson and Head of Africa Diaspora Relations, she will be responsible for driving ADC’s diplomatic and international engagement agenda through collaboration with diplomatic missions, multilateral institutions, and strategic global partners. Her portfolio includes coordinating relations with the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), Africa’s Regional Economic Communities (RECs), the European Union (EU), and other international development organisations.

Ms. Gumah will also play a pivotal role in facilitating international trade and investment discussions, business negotiations, partnership development, and the negotiation of bilateral and multilateral agreements that support the Council’s long-term objectives across the African continent and the diaspora.

 

Beyond diplomatic engagement, she has been tasked with overseeing grant proposal development, resource mobilisation, and sustainability initiatives designed to strengthen the institutional capacity and long-term impact of the Africa Development Council.

Working closely with the Council’s Protocol Department, Ms. Gumah will further enhance ADC’s global visibility, international public relations, and strategic communications while leveraging the expertise of the organisation to build meaningful partnerships that contribute to Africa’s socioeconomic transformation.

Her appointment reflects the Council’s commitment to engaging distinguished professionals with extensive experience in leadership, international relations, cultural diplomacy, and stakeholder engagement to drive its Pan-African agenda.

 

The Africa Development Council expressed confidence that Ms. Gumah’s expertise, leadership, and international network will significantly contribute to advancing the organisation’s mission of fostering stronger ties between Africa and its global diaspora while promoting development, investment, cultural exchange, and strategic collaboration.
