The Africa Development Council (ADC) proudly participated in the maiden edition of the EweZã Development Forum 2026, held on Saturday, 1st August 2026, at the Villa Cisneros Resort & Spa, Sogakope, under the theme:
“A Vision for the Future of the Volta Region.”
The highly successful forum brought together traditional leaders, policymakers, development experts, investors, academics, entrepreneurs, youth leaders, tourism stakeholders and community representatives to deliberate on practical pathways for accelerating the socio-economic transformation of the Volta Region.
ADC was represented by a high-level delegation led by the President, Ing. Dr. Bright Atsu Sogbey (PhD), alongside the Vice President, Mr. Sampson Gamenyah; Chairperson for Pan Africa Affairs & Diaspora Relations, Ms. Ramatu Gumah; Executive Secretary, Mr. Ernest Apetsi; ADC Media Lead, Mr. Prince Kuduga , Mr. Kingdom Attipoe, Deputy Executive Secretary and other consultants and representatives of the Council.
A major highlight of the forum was the participation of the ADC President as a distinguished panelist, where he delivered a goodwill message and shared strategic insights on the role of tourism, investment and partnerships in driving regional development.
Dr. Sogbey commended the EweZã Foundation for creating a visionary platform that brings together key stakeholders to shape the future of the Volta Region. He emphasized that tourism goes beyond recreation, describing it as a powerful economic tool capable of creating jobs, preserving culture, attracting investment and accelerating sustainable development.
He further stressed the importance of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) as a critical pathway for unlocking the region’s enormous potential, particularly in tourism infrastructure, cultural promotion, entrepreneurship and industrial development.
According to him, the Volta Region possesses exceptional natural resources, cultural heritage and human capital that can position it as one of Ghana’s leading tourism and investment
destinations when supported by deliberate strategies, collaboration and strong partnerships.
The forum provided meaningful discussions on investment opportunities, youth empowerment, tourism development, entrepreneurship, cultural preservation and the need for stronger collaboration among government, traditional authorities, private sector actors and development organizations.
ADC congratulates Mr. Nunya Kuwornu, Chief Executive Officer of the EweZã Foundation, and the entire organizing team for their vision, commitment and dedication in establishing such an important platform for dialogue and development.
The Africa Development Council believes that initiatives such as the EweZã Development Forum represent the future of development in Africa—where ideas become partnerships, partnerships attract investments, and investments transform communities.
