Ing. Dr. Bright Atsu Sogbey, President & Founder of the Africa Development Council (ADC), nominated for Nobles International Award for Globally Impactful Leadership & Scientific Discovery (Radiation Shielding Cement)

Ing. Dr. Sogbey, Senior Research Engineer, Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, and President of Africa Development Council, has been nominated for Nobles International Award, for his Globally Impactful Leadership & Scientific Discovery (Radiation Shielding Cement).

A Brief Profile of the Leader of the Africa Development Council

Ing. Dr. Bright Jerry Atsu Yao Sogbey is a distinguished Nuclear & Materials Engineer with expertise in Energy/Construction Engineering Materials Design and Development, including Radiation Shielding Capability of Concretes and Metallurgical/Welding/Automobile Engineering.

Dr. Sogbey is dedicated to advancing STEM/TVET in Africa through research and advocacy in diverse fields such as materials and nuclear/renewable energy, engineering materials quality control, assurance and selection, construction materials standards, corrosion control, industrial production and manufacturing materials design, development, processing, testing and inspection, project appraisal and management, engineering economy, and a wide range of technical training and development.

He holds a PhD in Materials Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, and an MPhil in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Ghana.

Dr. Sogbey played a pivotal role in establishing the Ghana Welding Bureau with the support of the Petroleum Commission of Ghana and other stakeholders, facilitating Ghana’s involvement in International Institute of Welding (IIW) activities at national, regional, and international levels, and promoting the adoption of welding innovations and technology transfers in Ghana.

As a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering, Dr. Sogbey was honored by the International Union of Materials Research at the World Materials Summit in Washington, USA, in 2011. He has authored over twenty academic research publications.

Currently, he serves as a Research Engineer at the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana.

The Eminent West Africa Nobles Forum (E-WANF) Awards recognize eminent West Africans for their integrity, accountability, and contributions to socio-economic development.

The awards are presented to individuals who have demonstrated exemplary leadership in their fields, including business, politics, and public service.

The E-WANF is a non-governmental organization of eminent personalities that promotes integrity and accountability in the sub-region.
